Our client was a successful North American retailer of automotive tools, primarily selling on platforms like Amazon and their own e-commerce site. They had a deep understanding of what their customers—from DIY enthusiasts to professional mechanics—wanted in a diagnostic tool.
However, they were stuck in the reseller trap. They wanted to launch their own private-label brand of scanners with unique features and a better user experience. Lacking an in-house R&D department, they needed a true one-stop-shop ODM partner who could take their market insights and turn them into a high-quality, finished electronic product. Our Design & Development Process

- Requirements Analysis: We held deep-dive sessions with the client to translate their desired features (e.g., "ABS Bleeding," "Oil Reset," "Battery Registration") into a concrete hardware specification.
- Schematic Design: Our team designed a robust schematic that included a powerful processor, a dedicated wireless SoC, and comprehensive circuit protection for the harsh automotive electrical environment.
- PCB Layout & Routing: Reliability was key. The layout featured extensive ESD protection on the OBD-II connector pins and a dedicated antenna keep-out zone with impedance-controlled routing to maximize Bluetooth range and reliability.
- Signal & Power Analysis: We ran simulations to ensure the board would perform flawlessly when powered by a vehicle's notoriously "noisy" 12V system and to guarantee error-free communication on the high-speed CAN bus.
- DFM/DFA Check: The entire design was optimized for our high-speed SMT lines. We optimized the panelization, component spacing, and connector placement to ensure a high production yield and low final assembly cost.
- Prototyping & Testing: We delivered fully functional prototypes, enabling the client's team to test the hardware with their custom app on a wide range of domestic, European, and Asian vehicles.
- Mass Production: As a true ODM partner, we managed the entire supply chain, from sourcing certified ARM processors and wireless modules to final PCBA assembly, testing, and quality control.
